Dan's Message about Heathcare Reform

"Dear Representative Anthony Adams,

We need less government interference into healthcare, not more, so please hang tough and do not let the socialists take over the state. Six million Californians choose not to buy healthcare insurance - that's called freedom. The governor thinks they are victims, and they will be if they are forced to fund his healthcare scheme. That 4% payroll tax is a sham because you should know it will come entirely out of worker pay, not employer profits. Our governor ran for office touting individual choice; now he wants to double-cross the voters by imposing his own choices on everyone!"

I am sad to say that Dan's opinion does not reflect my own, and I do not understand why it was sent by YPAC to congress.

I must also seriously disagree with Dan's view. I can't honestly believe that those who are without health insurance don't want it. To think that anyone would want to pay the ridiculous cost of medical bills without insurance is absurd. They don't have health insurance because they can't afford it or are denied by companies because of preexisting conditions. This country needs serious healthcare reform.

The United States was founded on the idea that limited government was the best government. They thought that people should have their own responsibilities and not rely too heavily on the government. If we become too dependent on the government then it will be disasterious. we have own own choice to buy healthcare or not. the freedom of the individual is slowly fading, fading because people do not know that it is. we have been called great because we were underdogs and we won, we established a strong, living, bending, thriving government, that is limited. we must not lose our individual liberties and choices if we do then what do we have left?

I seriously have to disagree with you Katie. Having lived in a country with universal healthcare I know there are great benefits to having some kind of healthcare plan for the people who can't afford it and can't qualify for medicaid or medicare. I have seen first hand what not being able to afford medical bills can do. People are dying in this country simply because they can't get insurance and can't afford the cost of the medical bills. This government was built to run for the people by the people and that is what is doing. It is not taking away our liberties and freedoms. It is giving us more by offering a more affordable healthcare plan. The people who convinced you that it was taking away our freedoms are the same people who are lining their pockets with over priced prescriptions and medical services. They aren't looking out for you, they are looking out for themselves.

Your all wrong..
All people are covered -no one is turned away -even illegals.
If you want to do something ,urge your lazy state or fed rep. to clean up our illegals so we can invite lower class workers into our country
legally. These people have been helping us go broke for decades. And all you liberals that think all this health care news is good , get outside and see what tax payers think. I'm doing my part by NOT hiring illegals so my local ER won't close again

You are a very angry person. Do me a favor and look up your family history to see if your family immigrated here legally. I am a tax payer thank you. You think because we're democratic we don't pay taxes? Wow, you live in an interesting world. On the contrary to your belief. Atleast 10% of vets alone get turned away in VA hospitals a year, last time I checked they didn't take illegals in VA hospitals. Free clinics end up having to turn people away, in 2009 New York had to turn 40% of their new patients away from free clinics. When my husband and I were trying to find a doctor with no insurance we had the door slammed in our faces time and time again. Even on medicaid and medicare you have to find particular doctors that will take it. This is what I mean when I say you listen to the people who a lining their pockets with money from pharmeceutical companies and expensive medical services instead of really finding out for yourself. I have seen what tax payers need and I am a low income tax payer myself, so I know what tax payers want.

I think health insurance should absolutely be required in this country. Accidents happen, people get sick. When this happens to the uninsured they end up in hospital ER's, which is fantastically expensive, and the costs end up on the taxpayers. The 'freedom to choose' not to purchase health insurance is individually irresponsible and bears a burden on all of us who do buy insurance and pay taxes. I do agree, Katie, that limited government is the best government, but that idea becomes flawed when greed and/or lack of personal responsibility begins to burden the majority of citizens. With a corrupt business end of healthcare combined with those choosing not to purchase health insurance, government involvement is needed.
